Notes from grateful readers.

“Your book is a treasure. I've been studying Spirit for thirty years and thought I knew a lot. Now I realize I haven't learned a thing except how to train my ego to appear spiritual. I have never been more excited about anything in my life.

Love you... from Lauren ”

“Guy Finley's book, The Essential Laws of Fearless Living, is substantive and to the point...two words that usually don't work together. But easy reading never had such an impact on my life like this. Guy reminds us that everything we need is within us and sometimes we just need to remember how to get there.”

— Betsy Chasse, producer, What the Bleep Do We Know?

“Guy Finley probes in this book The Seeker, The Search, The Sacred the many doorways into a new consciousness and opens up to his readers a vision of what human beings are capable of becoming.”

— John Shelby Spong, author of Reclaiming the Bible for a Non-Religious World

Loneliness

Question: Could you give some insight into loneliness and how to abolish it?

Answer: Loneliness is not the problem. Fear of loneliness is what drives us into wrong relationships, and despairing of ourselves. Think about it. The feeling of being alone has no negative content in and of itself. But as the mind works on it, and brings to bear all of the past negative experiences about being lonely, suddenly loneliness turns from a lamb into a lion. We can never be free of any negative state without being willing to meet it, to see it fully. Negative states continue to win the day and our lives because we don't face them truthfully.

Question: At times it seems to me that the more I realize about the awesome nature of spiritual love, the more loneliness I feel in my current human relationships. I long to share my discoveries with others, but who do I turn to?

Answer: A certain kind of loneliness, of feeling ourselves all alone, is a necessary portion of the path to the higher life. This sense of being alone comes out of realizing what are the inherent limitations in our actual relationships in this life, combined with a growing spiritual longing to commune with others in a deep and meaningful way. Go through this. We easily forget that there is a God, a Great Intelligence that guides the steps of anyone willing to put Him/Truth before all else. This same Intelligence will lead you to new relationships, inner and outer ones, in which not only will you be able to express the love you feel for the Truth, but this same love will fill you as well.

Question: Sometimes I feel a deep loneliness in my heart. I know I have many tools to be happy, and the most important tool I have is I'm alive... but the deep loneliness continues. What can I do?

Answer: For many years, we mistake this loneliness as being the echo of something missing in our physical life. It's not. It's a kind of call from the heavens, only we don't recognize it as such because most of our parts still long for people and possessions. Don't answer your loneliness. Stay with it. Study its face. You'll see through it. God is on the other side.
