Exercise
Become aware of those moments when you become instantaneously defensive and point the finger of blame at what you believe is the source of the disturbance you feel. The exercise is to "catch the fearful finger" that points outwardly and remember that there are three fingers pointing back at you. Every action of fear begins with a negative reaction. Catch the negative reaction, and instead of allowing fear to dictate your actions, make the intention to expose the fearful nature by saying inwardly, "Show yourself to me." You will start to see the relationship between fear and what it is hiding, and how it is protecting itself whenever it commands you to do what it wants. Recognize that you have adapted to living your whole life as an instrument of fear, and remember that fear must show itself to you whenever you make that intention.
