Extend a little kindness to someone--probably 98% of humanity--and, while not guaranteed by any means, most will likely express gratitude for the gesture...thanking you for your consideration.
Give a little bit more of it, and they begin to expect the same from you. And so it goes: appreciation is slowly replaced by presumption.
Continue to offer your kindness, and not only will they start believing they somehow deserve this consideration, but will soon prove their sorry level of self by judging you for being so "unkind" as to stop giving them what they have come to expect...and demand.
