The experience of what we are in the moment is always the product of comparison. Presently, what "I am" is always measured against something else, so that my identity begins divided. But our true nature is not something that our minds can think about, and cannot therefore be the product of any comparison.

The great lesson that life is always teaching individuals is to let go of being who or what you think you are. The pain that you experience in life is because the idea of what you think you are is always clashing with the idea of what you think you are supposed to be. It is a kind of conspiracy in which the self runs around in a circle trying to solve a problem that it created.

The next time that you are able to remember yourself--to bring yourself back into the present moment--try to see that in that moment of remembrance that there are no problems because there is no false self comparing itself to an imagined ideal.
