Being able to realize, and then release one's resistance to any unwanted moment does more than just help change the "dark tide" of that event; it reveals that within us already dwell the untroubled "waters" of a celestial harbor: the timeless shelter of an eternal Self that becomes the same as our own... but only as we can remember to make the great "leap" into the Now in which it forever dwells.
Exercise

When you have a moment that you don't want, the first impression is that something is "out of control" - that this is a "crisis," and now "I must regain control." It never occurs to us that when we're negative, we're in a dream. The dream is born of the belief that the "crisis" comes from outside of us -- what people do, what situations come up. All such dreams die when the consciousness that creates them passes. Work to catch the recurring "bad dreams" that something in you falls for, i.e. pretending to be something you're not, trying to get someone to like you, resentment, complaining, etc. Catch yourself in moments when you're filled with resistance and negativity and realize you're having a bad dream. Wake up!
