Stop revisiting and start remembering. We presently do not see that something in us is determined to revisit painful past experiences again and again, believing that it can change what happened, while producing a familiar sense of self. We must see the need to outgrow the temptation to revisit past experiences. Stop being deceived into believing that revisiting any unwanted event from the past will release us from its pain. Instead, remember that the attempt to resolve what happened in the past only serves to proliferate the pain in the present. If we want to stop participating in the pain of the re-visitation, then catch the temptation and surrender the strong sense of self that is produced by identifying with that memory. The more we remember, the more we will see the need to stop revisiting the past. We will then experience for ourselves how awareness transforms the past into a healing power.
