No real consolation can come from our spiritual struggle unless we enter into it accompanied and strengthened by the following understanding: whatever self-sacrifice we're asked to make -- as the pre-requisite to transcend whatever pains us -- serves a higher purpose than can be known by the parts of us that we're asked to give up for that greater purpose; and to that Timeless End -- and for it alone -- do we agree to surrender ourselves to an understanding greater than our own.

Don't push away pain. Catch those moments when you are in a struggle and something in you scrambles to get rid of psychological pain at any cost. Work to allow the moment of pain, to not be afraid of it, and to understand the truth behind it. Pain comes with a purpose. It is a natural part of creation, but if it is rejected, you also reject the higher understanding that brings an end to your personal struggle with it. Pain is inseparable from the awareness and revelation of what is out of balance within us. With awareness, something higher is then given the opportunity to reconcile and change what is seen. Don't look at pain as a curse, but instead as an invitation to change your relationship to it. Find out for yourself how the pain is transfigured by walking into and staying with the awareness of it.
