Exercise
Don't go along with the internal mob. There's not a moment that comes in this life that doesn't come bearing gifts. But right now when an unwanted moment comes we have only one relationship with it, which is to be captured by our reaction to it. Reactions are a passive response to an impression from life, but they feel active to us because we are instantaneously, mechanically identified with them. A sleeping consciousness within has been stirred by the impression, there's an immediate sense of resistance, and we identify with the reaction that follows as it points to things outside of us as the cause for how we feel. Now the "internal mob" within is awakened and we go along with its demands, feeling like we are actively working to change the unwanted moment. Instead of going along with the mob, work to actively participate in the moment by being the witness of that consciousness, which is the only way real change can occur.
