The Work of Awakened Waiting
Every cell in our body "waits" for the life-giving oxygen that must be replaced within it... moment by moment... though it cannot "know" what it waits on.
All flowers, each tree, "wait" for the sunlight they need to nourish themselves, though none "know" they wait on these celestial energies to nourish and sustain their life.
In much the same way, every human soul... waits on Love; but the truth of these thoughts stands barren without understanding the following:
Neither the cell, flower, nor the tree creates its own need. This longing is there before any creature takes form, finding itself already filled with a need it cannot, of itself, answer.
And so it is true of the soul: it too waits for what it needs to flower, openly embracing an ordained longing that -- like the sun, and its light -- is cause and effect at once. In the gradual realization of this understanding rests true faith... our "hope in things unseen."
