Question:

I wonder about the "guardian angels" some people speak of with such conviction. Who are they and do they really watch over us if we pray to them for protection?

Answer:

There is one thing I can tell you for sure with regards to this whole business of people having contact with some "guardian angel." If an individual ever had real contact with an angel -- a higher being of some order -- whether physical, visual, or auditory -- he or she would rarely, if ever, speak of such a sacred moment to another individual unless guided to do so for some non-self-serving purpose. That means that 99.9% of those individuals who speak of such events are in some form of hallucination.
