Something in us is always "looking for trouble." Our attention is constantly drawn to things that are negative, that disturb us - and it isn't accidental. The unattended mind deliberately looks for something that disturbs it in order to keep in place a lower nature that NEEDS disturbance in order to exist. This nature is given a sense of self through resistance, judgement, and blame. It disguises itself by asking questions like "What's that?" "Why is she the way she is?" "Why is the weather the way it is?" etc. These questions seem innocent, but they are not. This nature asks them, but already knows the answer it gives itself. It has taken our attention and put it on what disturbed it - not to resolve the disturbance, but to perpetuate itself. In an unwanted moment, feel your attention being taken. Hear the "What's that?" being asked. Realize that you don't really want to know what is being asked because you already have your own answers. When you hear "What's that?" - reply "It's Nothing." Quit giving your life away to meaningless consideration of meaningless things. See the lie of "What's that?" and you'll be set free.
