Do you feel like something is missing from your life? We have all felt like that to one degree or another. Yes, there are days when things seem to go well, but if we are honest with ourselves we know that there are not many good days, and as a result there is an incessant searching that is always going on.
What is it that we are searching for? The unseen, unanswered need that every human being on this planet has is the need to learn something new and true every day about themselves. It is only when a person learns something authentically new that he or she is refreshed on the spot. When you really learn something you are never the same again after you have learned it; you are changed in the very moment of that education.
We have figured out ways to "just get by" and handle our responsibilities to a certain degree, but by and large we do not learn, and because we do not learn we do not change. Real learning is integration. In the moment of really learning something, a true integration takes place. Integration always takes place in the moment of revelation, in which you newly see parts of yourself that were formerly in the dark.
There is only one way that you will ever know anything about this unconscious, demanding self that presently dominates us, and that is to set the intention to be in the place of seeing what happens to you in the moment that the demanding self places its demands upon you. The intention is to be the witness of what moves you instead of being that which is being moved. Without an intention, your attention belongs to whatever moves you.
When you set this intention to see, and when you begin to want to learn about yourself more than you want to continue being that old self, you will learn something every day. There really is a living refreshment born through integration, which is the end of an unconscious separation by which you have been suffering without knowing it. Set the intention to see; knowledge is the seed of wisdom, but wisdom flowers only through action.
