Exercise: "Stop, Drop, and Die to the Reaction." We never suspect that we are a captive of a consciousness that deceives and misdirects us into the idea that if we can change the person or the condition it's going to change the pain we're in. What we need to understand and allow is that the antidote is in the venom. When you feel the smallest onset of a psychological pain, go silent and come to a full stop. Fully feel the impact of the negativity of the reaction that wants to carry you with it. Recognize that your consciousness is getting ready to repeat it and drop all of these subsequent reactions. Stop, drop, and let the reaction and the self involved in that moment die. Do nothing with it. Just watch. You're going to see that you are not who you think you are. You're going to see that that consciousness is a captive of its own content and that everything that it challenges in the world is because it feels as if it's threatened by the moment.
