Step off the ferris wheel of misfortune. There is unconscious suffering in our lives because we're attached to the wheel of an unconscious nature that is forever trying to escape the world of what it doesn't want. We never see the fact that pleasure is connected to pain. Plans don't deliver us from pain; rather, the pained consciousness gives us those plans, which is why we have the same experience over and over again. We ride round and round the center of a wheel called "myself." Everything we're identified with is connected to the wheel. Two opposites are always connected together. We bind ourselves to the consciousness that loves and despises itself at the same time. The consciousness that identifies with what it desires is the wheel we're being carried along on. We will never be free of unwanted moments until we realize the pain's actual source, which is the consciousness that seeks to escape itself. Understand that your next desire won't free you from the pain caused by pursuing the last one. See that chasing after the promise of a future pleasure is a present pain.
