As goes my experience, so comes my sense of self. For the most part, we each presently identify with a consciousness that has been conditioned to function on the level of want and not-want. Its experience is a psychological ride that begins and ends with a strong, familiar sense of itself, all the while resisting new possibilities. But there does exist the possibility of an entirely different experience of that same moment. The new experience is to use our God-given, inherent capacity to be aware of the old repetitive experience as it plays itself out. The next time that want/not-want consciousness starts to repeat an old experience, the new task is to see that there is a strong sense of self that appears at the same time. Be the one who sees the two. You are created with the capacity to be the witness of that consciousness that gives itself an experience, then resists the experience that it is giving itself, while simultaneously producing a strong sense of self. The part of you that is aware of this interior amusement park ride lives above the consciousness that cannot see itself.
