Part 1
Painful reactions are born of an unseen resistance (to life). This means our suffering isn’t created by the unwanted situation blamed for it, rather it is the negative effect of being identified with a lower level of consciousness that believes the best way to deal with unwanted moments...is by not wanting them!
Part 2
Awakening is the (graduated) process of negating all forms of identification; (it is) the realization that no matter how real the feel of any familiar sense of self - for its pleasure, or pain - nevertheless: no sensation does a "self" make, any more than a wave on the sea makes the sea from out of which it rises, and must return.
Part 3
A mind divided against itself does not, cannot know that it is the creator of both sides of any conflict with life, let alone that it holds an equal interest in ensuring that each side of that struggle is constantly strengthened and re-armed with new motivations for why it must overcome whatever or whoever challenges its imagined supremacy.
