We Who Would Know a Measure of Christ's Life
We who would know a measure of Christ's life — who wish to both witness, and be a conscious instrument of (that) perfect love — must agree to see, and then realize an unseen contradiction in us that first defines, and then confines us to what is a death-bound lower level of being.
On one hand — especially in public, and always silently self-pleasing — is our claim to love the words and works of Christ; at times even admonishing others to be as we imagine ourselves already being: a shining "example" of someone who, if not already deserved of entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven . . . will surely soon be admitted.
Yet, on the other hand, we either discount, or find countless ways to conveniently dismiss the crux of His teachings: to see that, as we are, our imagined life has nothing real — no good — of its own and that the more we struggle in this world to save it, the more sure the guarantee we will . . . lose it.
