Transcending and Transforming the Self Part 1

A life without Truth is a life set upon a course of conflict, sadness and unfulfillment. If a person has a life of Truth, then these barriers begin to crumble and gives a person a new kind of participation in a world without conflict. You cannot prove truth to anyone and you don't need to. We are all receiving what the truth is giving us. If one can't prove the truth to another, how is it possible to find it?

"You will keep on hearing but will not understand; And you will keep on seeing but will not perceive, for the heart of this people has become dull and with their ears they scarcely hear and they have closed their eyes lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart."

We can't prove the Truth because the truth is not exterior to a person. "If your eye is single, your whole body is full of light". Seeing is an interior process, not an exterior one. Interior truth proves itself to itself when it sees itself. God put in the center of our being everything it will ever be. Whatever truth is, it is an interior condition.

Just as Truth is interior in a human being so is the source of deception. A lie is the outcome of deception. That propensity is an interior property. Deception is not a necessity to live but Truth is in order to transcend the realm that deception does its work.

Everyone knows there is something deceiving him or her. What is being deceived is what has fallen. We know we are not right human beings. We may not know the fact of it but we feel the truth of the condition. What is it that causes one to fall, to be angry, rude and hurtful to others? The nature of this fall is deception. Before a person can fall they have to be deceived.

To understand the fall a person has to understand the nature of deception. Deception always begins with a form of temptation. It occurs when one is identified with an image that gives them a sense of being alive. It is always an image of their own making. Let's say we have an image of being an important person -- powerful, confident. The image is loaded with a powerful sense of self-derived from the image. All images are dead, filled with stuff of what was. This sense of self is derived from something that doesn't exist. A derivative from something that is the stuff of your own consciousness. Those who seek power are those who are powerless and fearful. Weakness images power, hatred images love. We do dark stuff we think dark things and not wanting to be that doesn't change anything.

The fall had to do with the knowledge of good and evil. These are really one element divided into 3, knowledge, good and evil. The knower is the opposite of the known. There is no one to be good or bad without the knower. The knower is the opposite of the known. The self does not exist without the opposites of good and evil. We don't exist without someone to be against. Our nature identifies with what it sees according to its content. You, me and the event are not separate but one thing. The "I" that meets the moment is a sensory moved opposite that we derive our identity from of the image we hold of the event. If you are an idiot that makes me a giant then I know my next step.

The ultimate deception and temptation is separation and isolation from the Truth. We think that we are all that is necessary and all that will be. We are looking for an endless stream of sensation that will satisfy us so we will not be alone. Anything that acts upon us that limits our freedom to grow can't be good. All forms of identification are limitations. To be identified is to be involved with one's past. All images are generated by the divided mind constructed by one's past experience. Whatever image is already known is always a limitation.
