The will and the wall. The will wants to take the next step forward. The wall says, "I can't go forward."
Our sense of self is derived out of the will and the wall- there's a press to move ahead and the feeling of being unable. There is no wall in "inspiration." We are not intended to live from walls.
Story 1: Jimmy, the Juggle Anything, Johnson -- He used to be able to juggle anything, but when he stopped to think about how he did it, he couldn't do it any more.
Story 2 -- Two mountain climbers -- a young climber and a master. A huge avalanche washes down on them and they end up perched on a precipice. The young man is afraid. The experienced climber says, "You're not going to get there, you're going to come here." "There" is negative imagination -- the wall.
Story 3 -- A reporter was enamored with a titan of industry. He came to him and said "What is your secret?" The man said, "I have never found something that couldn't be done. It may not be done perfectly, but I can do it better each time. I don't worry about what can't be done."
You will never know unless you walk through what you think you can't do. Just do it. There is nothing in the universe that stand in the way of the perfectly present moment. There are no walls in the moment.
Learn to walk past thought. Real freedom is understanding the immateriality of negative thought. You have to learn to go on without "you."
The hatred of not being free can never lead to freedom. Freedom costs you living without the wall.
