Divine Dissatisfaction

In this short talk, self-realization author Guy Finley talks about how we have been deceived into thinking that we need to control everything in our lives in order to meet the world's standards of success and happiness. But as Guy explains, if we feel a painful compulsion to control everything we see outside of us, then it is fear that is in control.

Why can't we shake our sense of being incomplete in spite of all we've acquired? After all, what hope is there of finding in the world situated around us something that can answer our longing to be whole, to be one with life, when this need itself comes into us from a world above us? Small wonder we search in vain! It is a divine discontent that drives us in our search for...

All of life's innumerable "shake-ups, breakups, and wake-ups" take place within what we call the "present moment." This ever-open window into life--through which we see the newness of life unfolding before us--is something much, much greater than all of the individual events that pass through it to reveal it.
