We don't understand what life is trying to show us. We are alive for a great purpose. How can we use every second of our life to discover the purpose of our life? Everything goes in cycles: seasons, day and night, moon, tides, even trees "breathe" in and out. Everything serves something else. There is a great chain of life which continues to evolve. Trees, animals have no choice in what they do. Humans are unique in that we can choose what we serve in our "cycles" of relationships, weather, health, etc. Half are good and half are painful. But we are conditioned to believe that life should always be good and never bad. It should be all pleasure and no suffering. This is not the way life works. Pleasure and pain run in cycles too. But what do we do when a cycle of suffering comes along? We try to get rid of it. ASAP. The purpose of this 50% of our life is unknown to us. What is its purpose?
The question is how do we use the cycle of darkness for its true purpose? Instead we are used BY it. We push away the darkness. Try to escape it. It does have a purpose. Why would God give us something to suffer over? Life is a cycle of beginnings and endings. But we don't want endings (unless they are the ones we design for ourselves). We only want beginnings. Everything naturally ends. But we humans want continuity. So we try to keep everything in place. How to use suffering to discover its true purpose:
We want to speak out against life. We're a victim. Blaming and complaining makes the pain seem more real, through identification.
We seed into someone else's mind a weed when we say how bad-off we are to someone else. We want to dump our feelings onto someone else to rid ourselves of it.
Painful feelings cause us to be more isolated/separated from everyone else. And from the actual cause of the suffering inside us. We fail to see that our actions are just effects of the cause that we have named.
Sharing the load of our burden prevents us from seeing that our suffering comes from our resistance to it.
Everything comes to a natural end. Remain with it, rather than resisting it. Just watch. Then we will see that the suffering that is half of our life is just a part of the whole of it. This is conscious suffering. And we are not alone in these moments.
