One of the most iconic movie scenes, remembered by all who have seen it, is the image of Indiana Jones standing at the precipice of a great abyss. Somehow he has to get over to the other side, but how? There is no bridge to be seen.

Being the true adventurer, and sensing there must be a way, Indiana steps forward, albeit in fear and trembling, onto a wispy cloud, and as he does, his foot touches something solid. An invisible bridge has appeared beneath his feet! A feeling of relief floods through Indy, and the audience. Now we all know his success is assured.

People refer to this scene quite often when talking about a challenge they face with no idea how to meet it or what will happen. Why does it capture the imagination so?

I think it’s because it is such a heartening example of something we all know we need, but understand so little about: Faith.

Where Are We to Find What We All Need?

We have so many questions about faith. What is it? Is it a blind belief? Or is it a quiet sense of confidence in one’s heart? 

In the New Testament we find, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” It’s fairly obvious we’re looking at a metaphor here, but one that alludes to the idea of being granted a new kind of power over conditions that usually have power over us!

For instance, how many times do we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed by a flood of negative reactions, or feeling empty and dry as dust inside? How do we call on faith in moments like these to help us keep our head held high?

And perhaps most important of all to the struggling aspirant: how do we awaken and walk through the difficult moments of life with this order of spiritual grace, especially when – if we’re honest about it – we know so little about it!

So, with all these questions, where can we turn to get the answers that inspire and fulfill us, and set us on the path to finding a transformative faith within us?

We’ve been livestreaming Guy’s talks – for free – for several years now, and we’re delighted that modern technology allows people around the world to participate in our events. And so, we are livestreaming all our March Weekend of Wisdom talks.

But nothing compares to being fully immersed in the atmosphere of a genuine inner-life school. And if you are able to be with us in person, please do come. You’ll feel the amazing energy in the room and be with people who are working, just as you are, to develop a true relationship with Life.
