Learn To See and Be Free

This talk is about understanding why we don't change and why we don't have the life we want, and why we don't have a heart that no longer fears what it is and what it doesn't want; a heart that has been cleared of what is old in itself that thinks is new. The hallmark of change is to be free. To resist what life brings us is a form of captivity. The reason we don't change is because we are blind. Have you ever heard of blinded by love, hatred, ambition or greed? What do all of these things have in common?

Those who see they were blind gain their vision through humility by the recognition of the fact I was blinded by what I wanted to be. Wanting to become is blindness. We are captured by the sensation of wanting to be filled with what we call love so we don't really see the other person. We are not blinded by the person but by what we want, an image we hope to attain. Blindness of hatred prevents us from seeing the fact of this relationship. I was blind so I blame you. We are fascinated with the sensation of imagination. Longing to become is the root of blindness.

We can know the value of what we create or develop. Something created out of our efforts has value. Something self ascribe and unappreciated causes us to become upset with those who don't validate us. That which has been created cannot know its own value. We cannot know our own worth. We measure our value against the world's values. The world values power, authority, and position, everything that is exterior to a human being acquired through becoming something, measuring one by what they are on their way of becoming. Nothing we have obtained has brought us a bit of peace.

Human beings have become self-measuring by having agreed upon values. The nature of ambition - human beings have a desire to be more of something and set out to find a way to no longer be who they have been. Discontentment of what they are. This inherent dissatisfaction and conflict come from the idea, "I am not good enough". We are blinded because we want to be more.

Spirit does not fear emptiness. It is perfect emptiness, which is fulfillment. In order to change what one is, one has to see what one is. Seeing what we don't want to be makes us chronically negative. What we didn't get or become is image compared to what we should have been. This nature that is never satisfied except for what it hopes to become is the engine of desire and the structure of our being. We don't see our blindness but we breed it.

Doing equivocates getting things done. When all my things are done, I won't be negative or cruel. If a person is trying to become kind, the root of this is self-generated by resistance to what they are. We are afraid to see what we are. This evaluation is at the center of our soul. It comes from thinking about ourselves from whom we have been, ever weighing the past. We need to be free from the past that is telling us how to find freedom.

The desire to become respected, admired, successful comes from ambition. Ambition is what moves us. We all have a creature inside of ourselves we are trying to escape from and it can only really be died to. Out of ambition comes hatred because it can never be satisfied and is a source of our pain.

The last thing a person wants is to see is what they are. We are always trying to make a future for ourselves hoping for peace. Never ending rushing towards becoming content and happy.

Take the veil from your eyes. See what is true about you. It is a requirement to stop resisting your being. This includes learning to recognize negativity as negativity regardless of what it says. Live without becoming. There is nothing greater than what God made us.
