The “importance” of any given moment is inseparable from whatever may be the momentary sense of “self” responsible for lending it that significance. If we are to have any hope of realizing what is actually important in this life -- which is to see through the illusion of a separate self -- then we must be honest enough to admit the following truth: What really makes one moment seem more important than any other cannot be separated from how important it makes us feel.

When you're in pain, ask the question: "Is the path I'm on (the way I'm feeling) good for me or not?" Instead of letting pain answer you, stay with the question and see the Truth of it. Thoughts try to free you from the torment they produce in an institutionalized mind. Pain pushes you and seems to prove your importance. You save your sense of importance by finding someone or something else to blame. You suffer from AGESOSI: A Greatly Exaggerated Sense Of Self Importance. Awareness is always available, and reveals the interior conflict in any situation. What you value and what you do is what's real in the moment. Understand the importance of life, not why you're important in this life. See through the illusion of a separate self -- that you're important because of what you're identified with. Spend less time trying to prove yourself and more time trying to be yourself. Everything that is important is what we're being given moment to moment.
