Story 1: Woman goes to her doctor saying she can't shake feelings that something is wrong. He gives her a diagnosis, "You have a broken heart."
Everyone on the planet has a broken heart, but we aren't conscious of it. Our sensitivity is a wound that will not heal.
Story 2: A royal rose gardener gives his daughter a pot of baby blue roses. Though she tries to take care of it, the plant starts to die. The roots of the earth grew up and tried to steal the life from the plant. The gardener cuts the roots and tells his daughter, "You must watch the rose from all angles."
We are beings with many loves and no loves. I believe my attachments are part of me, but what I call love isn't love. Real love is inseparable from the moment.
Story 3: A wise eagle said to a young eagle, "you crashed last week, and there are parts of you that don't care about the health of your wings."
There are parts of us that don't care about the health of our hearts.
A broken heart mistakes illusions for reality- A whole heart has One Love above all others.
What breaks our hearts is vesting ourselves in something outside us. One of my loves is self-pity, money, judging, desire for achievement. Real Love doesn't hinge on anything to fulfill it. The love of being alive in the present moment to moment is One Love.
Every moment can be used for the healing of the heart. The Blue Rose needs love and attention. It takes willingness to starve the "roots of the earth." Life is going to take away the things in this world that I love. Seeing this is the beginning of the end of identification. Love is present even in the worst of times, but we must put It first.
