7 Things Worth Fighting For
1. As I have been... I fight to change your mind: Now I will fight for myself to have my own mind.
2. As I have been... I fight to make life move at a speed I need to feel secure, hurry up, get things done. Now I will fight for myself to move at a speed I choose, not the speed of fear.
3. As I have been... I fight with feelings of being inadequate, of being or having less than others. Now I will fight for myself to become aware of myself painfully comparing myself to others.
4. As I have been... I fight with old memories, with unwanted moments from the past, struggling to escape whatever may be the bitterness of the event something draws me to relive. Now I will fight for myself to be aware of just how useless my regrets have proven themselves to be, and to drop them as soon as they try to drag me back in time.
5. As I have been... I fight with life when it doesn't unfold as I imagined it. Now I will fight for myself to see just how useless it is to resist what can't be otherwise. I will fight to surrender myself to this awareness.
6. As I have been... I fight with the unwanted experience of habitual negative reactions, trying to control what they tell me is causing the conflict I'm in. Now I will fight for myself by bringing any painful thought or feeling into the light of an awareness that reveals them for what they are: false guides, false gods.
7. As I have been... I fight with people that don't believe in the same things I do, who refuse to act in accordance with what I am sure is best for them. Now I will fight for myself to remember how useless it is to try and change others, and to let them be what they are, as they are, without imposing my demands upon them.
