Self-Liberation Begins with Being Free to See "What Is"

What is the first right action? When you find yourself feeling agitated, anxious, and not quite prepared for the moment, instead of looking for the right action to take to release you from the conflict you're feeling, recognize that you're about to take a wrong action. See that every last "first solution" that comes to your mind when you first start to suffer over any disturbance is actually an extension of that suffering. When you know the fact of this, you will effortlessly know the first right action, which is no action at all -- no identification with any emotion, no saying "I" to any thought or feeling that wants to tempt you into an action that you've taken in one form or another a thousand different ways. Work to suffer yourself instead of save yourself by being the witness to everything that's unfolding within you without participating in what it's telling you to do. The more clearly you see, the more clear your action will be.
