As it is for a person who has always lived in the desert cannot image a cool mountain breeze, so it is for human beings who have lived their whole life in constant conflict can never know peace. There is no peace on this earth because there is no peace in human beings. While war appears to be waged between peoples it is really a conflict created by contesting fears. It is invisible states that use conditions to justify the violence that lives in them. Fear wants to protect itself from what it fears. There will never be peace on earth until we all understand the violence that lives inside of us. Violence is as simple as anger, impatience, frustration and we cannot be free of these conditions until we are free of fear.
There is something that dominates us. There are states that sit at the bases of our day that decide what is happening and what needs to be done which is the outcome of desire. Conflict is created by contesting fears, not by people. Inside of every human being there are entities, kind of potentials or qualities of the soul. These are parts that make up the whole of one's life. They all have at the very root of them their own desire. A buck is hardwired to fight for the right to mate. The Tom turkey fights for leadership. It is in the creature to dominate or be dominated. It is the same with human beings. Everything of this world lives inside of us and we are meant to be the culmination of all of it but we don't have a clue of the life that exists inside of us.
We can't have a fear without desire. Desire is not what we think it is. All desire is negative. No desire exists in a human being that isn't based in resistance. It is the root of what is not. It is resisting what is. Desire comes out of what one doesn't want to be. It is the reverse of life. There cannot be conflict without resistance. It is not between you and something, it is born out of a nature that only exists in a divided state. The root of pain is in resistance that is fashioned by conflict not between you and what you name but with what is and what you want to be.
Here are some examples of daily conflict: I want everything to keep going as it is but I am terrified it will. I only want what I name to change. I want to break out but I don't want anything unwanted to happen to me. There is fundamental conflict. Pain is the conflict itself. There is no self apart from what it considers. No matter what we are doing we think we should be doing something else. So, we try to discipline ourselves to be spiritual beings and the attempt to dominate ourselves produces a lopsided human being cut off inside from what it means to have real liberation. Domination is born out of fear and the conflict remains in place.
Conflict is produced by resistance and born out of negative desire wishing to come to something better. Out of this conflict comes pain. When we are dominated by a certain negative state, we are isolated, blind and insensitive. All states trace back to "I want this" and life has given me that. Then the pain becomes the thing, the new derivative will that will relieve the pain. The pain comes from a conflicted nature and we never reach the end of the pain because the pain can't be answered by the mind that evaluates it. We can't please ourselves in this unfillable gap.
The emptiness a human being desires to fill is created by the desire. What is at the root of pain is "what I don't want" and "what I need to fill this emptiness". This self, the time nature, doesn't really exist apart from the negativity. You can't fill nothing. There can't be resistance to what is without there being a negative evaluation of it. It gives rise to what you desire. It is an opposite of negative evaluation where violence and aggression come in to get rid of the fear the moment the desire arises to fulfill the gap. Emptiness doesn't exist apart from the moment of desire. If you fight with your life there will never be peace. The problem can't be resolved outside of itself. There is an Intelligence that sees. It doesn't cooperate with resistance. Only human beings make an individualized resistance. Get tired of letting pain tell you how to be free of it.
