Let God Give You What He Has Asked of You

Special Writing: If the nature of this world, if its reality is as we have been led to believe by our society at large, then one's daily dose of suffering is sure to be seen as undesirable and, above all, unnecessary; a thing to avoid at all costs, that with ample fortune or favor we may hope to escape altogether. But if the reality of our individual lives, its true measure of success is not to be determined by the amount of pleasure we may purchase and consume, but rather is founded by the degree to which we may transform and transcend our very souls. Then we must learn to look anew upon our suffering and, though unspeakable, dare to re-evaluate our relationship with its undeniable presence within us.

All of our experience of pain is met with; "I don't want that!" But life says here it is anyway and our lives become dominated by what we think will set us free. We avoid and resist pain. But the truth is we cannot understand anything without establishing a conscious relationship with it. If we disagree with a relationship before we understand it we have cut ourselves off form the very understanding that can lift our level and relieve our pain. When a pain comes we say, "No, I don't want that! Leave me alone! I disagree with that! And our refusal of the pain disconnects us from the necessary relationship we need to understand it out of existence. It is not an option to not have pain on this planet.

We are unable to distinguish between the desire we have and the thing desired. There is a desire that is always trying to work itself out, trying to take something to complete itself. The body needs air. There is a marriage, consummation and expulsion. There are root forces of creation. Desire is one of them. We are an aspect of this. Our organism is a receiver of these extraordinary forces that touch and stir us. We don't know what stirs us but we feel its movement. We don't see it move into us but when it reaches a certain point we register it as pain, grab onto this energy and name it from our past experiences. We seize and make an image out of it and consider it from the content of our being.

Desire comes in and we feel this emptiness not the thing desired. We name the thing from the content of our experience in order to have control over the movement - what is now active and dominating us in the moment.

Great masters do what they do because they are prompted to do that as a way of answering these feelings. The request of this movement - this emptiness - is always asking for something. The root of dissatisfaction is the inability to be in relationship because we don't understand what is going on. We can't answer it from the content of our experience and it can't work because we are answering from the wrong part that can't fulfill us. A marriage made in time by thought can never fulfill itself. So we don't know what to answer this emptiness with.

Unless a kernel falls into the ground it will abide alone. Human beings are not alive. They live in thought and thought lives out their lives. They try to avoid suffering and attract pleasure. What they don't have and what they need to do to take care of things. What we are and what we have to have to make pain go away. This thought nature can't live because it cannot die. It can't come to the end of itself. We never fall to the ground so we can't be reborn. Life is living and dying each moment.

When the feeling of longing comes (pain) it is asking for the bridegroom. We are never aware of the 1st movement. We name the pain and what we need to get rid of it and we make this chain that can never answer what God has asked us for. See suffering as God has asked you for something. It isn't a pain until we attach something to it - this person did me wrong. Stop marrying your answers to what God is asking you for. The answer to the dark movement is "I am". It wants itself not your answers. We can bring our suffering into the presence of something greater, into our awareness of God, into the understanding that of myself I can do nothing but God can answer it. You cannot know love until you submit to the process. You cannot be more than what God made you. God will come into you to make the marriage take place. Don't answer the pain and agree for the marriage to take place.
