Stop Being Useful to Useless Negative States

We are never captives of our conditions. Yet when we go along with or find value in negative states we are consenting to be caged by them. By identifying with them, we may receive a feeling of momentary freedom, which never last, and only insures that the walls of the cage will shrink closer around us again. There is no freedom in a time to come. Freedom is now. Freedom doesn't have conditions. If we wish to know real Freedom, we must become useless to negative states, which are our captor. Identify habitual negative states that you suffer over; that come with a promise of freedom "in a time to come." See what happens when you work to not feed these states. When you have a bout of self-pity, be useless to the self that glorifies itself for what it feels. When you feel yourself about to complain, realize you are looking at yourself. When impatience comes up, see that impatience and demand are secretly one thing. This new knowledge is the beginning of the cessation of the self that looks in the mirror and thinks it's seeing something other than itself. Everyone can know Real Freedom like this. But only if you're willing to pay the price.
