False Self

Student Talks: 07/10/2026 - The only way we will ever know that death is an invisible doorway into another level of being  – Higher or lower, depending – is if we do the interior work – here and now – of dying to an unconscious nature whose “will to live” – we’ve mistaken as being the same as our own.

Key Lesson: In REAL life there are no "tracks" to follow, but thought runs along the tracks of memory, and memory always departs from and returns to the same old railway station: the PAST. This explains why it seems we never arrive at the higher station in life called "True Freedom"... because real freedom is not in time.

Student Talks: 10/31/2025 -The Real Gift of Life is the grace to see that each moment -- inseparable from our awareness of it -- is always complete in and of itself. And further, that whenever we act as a silent witness to that revelation -- quietly observing whatever new form of life is conceived within it -- we too are completed and renewed, accordingly.

By and large, most of us hold an unseen, but utterly false belief: the more we feel the need to talk to ourselves about something, the more important it is we do so. But what are we so busy talking to ourselves about in these moments of stress... if not what we must do in order to escape the painful experience of our own stressful reaction?  

Student Talks: 8/1/2025 - No condition that our unconscious nature imagines into existence can change, let alone liberate that level of self that, out of fear, finds itself compelled to imagine it... in order to feel secure!

Student Talks: 05/30/2025 - It’s not by accident that we reach interim points of mounting resistance in our work to be free, any more than we accidentally meet the challenge of some uncertain, unstable ground that waits to be gained the nearer we come to the summit of a mountain.

The purpose of a compass is not to tell you who or what you are; it's created to give you trusted guidance, so you don't lose your way. So it is with any revelation about yourself; its (Divine) light is to help you see all that you may yet be, and certainly not to judge you over what you are not.

Student Talks: 4/14/2023 - Key Lesson: We can keep running through our day -- rushing to get to where the next thought tells us we need to be -- or we can work to let these painful impulses pass into, and through us; there is no other choice: either we're awake, and aware of the presence of this "demanding self" -- watchful, and willing to die to its dark will -- or we're caught in its draft...

Student Talks: 7/9/2021 - Key Lesson: Our greatest gift -- the heart and soul of our Divine possibility -- may be summarized as follows: not only are we created to give ourselves to what we love, but that we are able to discern -- consciously -- the difference between one order of Love that sacrifices itself for the sake of something Greater than itself, and another kind of love... that lives only to give itself what it imagines makes it great.
