There is one principal reason why we don't change into a higher form of consciousness. Everything changes according to the will that acts upon it. The reason we don't change is because we don't understand the purpose of obedience. We are created unruly. Anything that wants us to come under its guidance we push away but then we give our will over to any passing desire in order to get what we want. Obedience to a desire is an unholy marriage and begins a person's punishment. We are far fallen creatures and we call falling, flying. We are created to be obedient to God's will.
God's will is present in every single human being. It provides a series of events and lessons in one's life, which meet in that human soul and are meant to fall on the Truth inside of that human being.
There was a man who loved the light and he opened up an antiquated lamp shop. He hired an assistant that worked very hard to help him but when he opened up his shop no one came. He hired a management specialist who figured out the problem. He took him outside and showed him there was a sign that said the store was closed. When he asked his assistant what was going on he said, "I worked so hard to get everything perfect, I didn't want anything to change."
We must learn what it means to be open. It is a celestial condition. Inside of open the whole world is becoming. In closed are dark states, melancholy, shut off from the light because we are obedience to our own desires and sensation seeking caused by thoughts and feelings. Everything in us is disturbed and closed to the entrance of all things new. If a farmer worked only when the horses wanted him to or milked the cows only when they wanted to be milked, he couldn't be successful because the will of the lower ran the farm. Our appetites and the fire that lives inside of us rule us. We are ruled by the part of us that is closed off so we can be safe. We view disturbances as being against our best interest.
"Open to God's will". A farmers will is intended to act upon the lower will of the animals. Understanding is synonymous with the light. The further one sees the deeper runs that individual's being. To be open to the light means to be open to Truth's understanding so It's will can work for Its purpose. Our purpose serves our animal nature and we readily submit to it because we think it is ours.
Everything in the world is an expression of what is above us. The will of the form is borrowed from the will that created it. We have a sun, a golden orb that sits 93 million miles from this water planet. That sun is not the real sun but a creation of a creative force that is the light behind that sun. We live a fully terrestrial existence. The heat from the sun comes down from above. Our foods are vested with energy from the sun. We take that food into us to extract energy from it. We are a terrestrial chain. We have no light that is within us moving out. We are created as a solar creature in spirit. A soul is a lunar body. It is terrestrial and in its essence is light, a reflected light. It has nothing in it that moves out of its own. Christ represents in the cosmic scheme of things the transformation of the soul by his light. We are intended to be open to the light. Not an idea of light but an actual light. The soul is vested in light as a transforming power. The reason the light isn't in a human being is because they are obedient to the darkness.
We intend to be good and have the light but we don't know how to do this but we can be open. What does it mean to be open to the light? Be still and want to be open and obedient. Conscious submission of will and desire. We have in us a great receiver and no receiver exists without a transformer. The Light is the transformer. The light lifts, reveals, warms, cleanses and nourishes. Darkness oppresses, conceals, chills, incubates, closes things down and depletes.
Inside of us there are dark and light forces and they are taking action all the time. There is something in a human being that can choose. This is free will. Choose not to be self enclosed, filled with thoughts and feelings about yourself. Choose to be open to the light. It is not your job to enter into the light but to provide an entrance for it. The end of the imagined light is the death of the imagined self. There is already a real light and will.
Exercise: Throw yourself open. You can't think about this. It is an action of the heart. Darkness hates the light. There is something in us that hates the light. Use your will to not be what hates the light. Open yourself again and again. Darkness has weight. Negative states are weighted, encrusted particles. Darkness shrinks in the light. The will of the light begins to express itself upon the animal desires. When you open your eyes and see the light remember the interior light and carry it with you everywhere you go.
