- Most human beings believe that they already know what love is, as well as what it means to be loved.
- To discover what love is begins with seeing what it is not.

- We believe that power is found in the part. It is that very belief that is the pain.
- The genuine road to love is arduous. Love asks you for everything, but it gives you everything that it asks for.
- The more that we don't want something, the more we experience what we don't want.
- Human beings are more interested in keeping their sense of self in place than they are interested in discovering the truth about it.
- When you are negative, it is because you don't want to see anything that doesn't look, walk, talk, or act like you. What chance is there for love if there is a demand that everything that you see must look like you?
- "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other." -- New Testament -- The two masters are what you want and what you don't want, which always appear together.
- Here is a question that will never occur to the vast majority of humanity: When does wanting and not-wanting come to an end? Wanting and not-wanting come to an end when we finally see that they will never be the solution to our suffering.
- When you seem to get life to do what you want, at that same moment appears what you don't want. For every want there is a not-want. There can't be love where any opposite dominates the consciousness.
- The mind is never where it is because it is always trying to get to where it thinks it needs to be.
- You can never get away from the experience of yourself, but you believe that you can by wanting something new.
- Judging yourself is the same as not wanting the experience of yourself.
- Our new want must be to willingly see what painful reactions are revealing to us, as opposed to seeing only what those reactions are pointing to. Want the revelation more than you want to save yourself again.
