- Real joy is connected to a new kind of willingness to participate in what we could call "Divine Being."
- The consciousness that dreams about greatness does not know anything about true greatness.
- Everything that the mind thinks is greatness is a poor substitue for the timeless greatness that has already been prepared for you.
- The joy of being useful is about understanding your role in the greater story. Nature made you for a particular purpose and your job is to fulfill that purpose. If you don't complete that task, then how can you move on to the next and greater one?
- Being is upstream from doing. Doing is downstream from Being.
- When you can have one idea and really work with it, you are related to the moment through a different reaction to it. You start to look at the moment through the eyes of that idea, and are rescued from old ideas.
- What is genuinely complete cannot be taken from you. Only what you imagine you need to complete yourself can be taken from you.
- We are created with the capacity to participate constantly, and consciously, in the Divine Will.
- Understanding is completely different from thought. The more you really understand, the less thought you have to take.
- "I shall not want" means to become aware of the consciousness that sustains itself through want and not-want. With awareness, one can have wants and not-wants, but one understands their place and is not dependent upon them.
- I cannot be anything greater than what the moment gives me to be.
- We cannot complete any moment through thought because thought in itself is incomplete, while the moment is already complete. But the rub is that presently there is fierce identification with, and dependence upon thought. Seeing this gradually breaks the dependence.
- Joy is to no longer be a self-motivated human being, but to participate in the role that you have been given to enact for the purpose of completing the moment.
- Everyone thinks that they are greater than what they have been given to do. The task is to complete the task that you have been given to do. The consciousness that lives in imagination of what it means to be greater cannot do the simplest task.
- "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." -- Jesus, New Testament
- There is no moment without you, and there is no you without the moment. The observer is the observed.
- Resistance is a form of giving your attention to what you don't want.
- Any kind of real objective art is created when the artist has been moved to express something that he or she has come to understand, which has joy in it. If it is created for self-glory, then it is not objective art.
