New Knowledge About the True Nature of Freedom

The animals that we might watch in a forest or in our homes are free, unlike us... only very young children also exhibit this kind of freedom before the onset of a sense of separate self. They do not live in time as adults do, and are not pursuing anything beyond what is happening in the moment.

We seek freedom through relationship, pleasure, desire, etc. But no situation or outcome will bring us to what we want... and nothing lasts forever. We forget this truth and fail to realize its implications.

No one seeks freedom who is free. Real freedom has no particular need in its breadth, but is the very essence of what it is to be unencumbered. Real freedom needs no situation in order to know itself.

We are imprisoned, and the freedom we seek in this prison is dependent upon being in the very imprisonment it seeks to escape from... This kind of seeking can't bring us to anything real and the one seeking the escape can't be anything without the captor in place. Therefore, finding real freedom become impossible to the seeker of it. Real freedom can never be put into jeopardy, but we have become confused by the part of our mind that explains what our problems are and how our freedom should take place.

"Pick Up Your Cross and Follow Me" has new significance in the Light of this talk... these words represent the tree of life and its action is to endure the stirring of spirit to the very end. We are intended to participate in the animating energy of the universe, but spend our days in a captivity that we cannot resolve.

We dream that we are free human beings... but the whole of our life can 'turn on a dime' when something unexpected happens. Awareness of the prison, however, is the means to unlocking its grasp on us...We dream we are free and fail to see the dire state of the human condition on the planet.

Reference to H.G. Well's book, The Time Machine...We are like the Eloi in the story... we cannot avoid being eaten by the Morlocks... when the sirens sound, we go into a trancelike state as we walk into the dark domain (negative states) of these creatures. We are being consumed.

To escape the imprisonment we suffer from, we must become aware of every nook and cranny of the prison that holds us. We have put on a mask that we are largely unaware of, and that mask is the personality (Greek -- Persona -- the mask through which the sound travels). Personality has become the dominant force that governs us -- leading the way throughout our lives. We presently have no choice in this domain.

The formation of a 'shield' is the first attribute of personality in action. This shield automatically alerts the "other" that a shield is necessary for them as well... and a cycle of defense begins to take place. We are always acting out a role that we have no choice about... we just act as though it is truly us... This is the prison of personality, protecting itself from supposed attacks. Its action initiates a domino effect of robotic negativity that commands us to do its bidding... all based on the interpretation that is our past.

The prison we are caught within is made out of the reactions of the nature that is darkness in us. Personality is the interface this dark force uses to act in the world. Our resentments of our condition comprise the walls of the prison.

We must find ways to break out of the prison through challenging the reactions that rule us... And not giving way to the forces of personality that compromise us.

Having no doubt is a main feature of a mechanical person (although, upon awakening, doubt will disappear truly). And the only hope I have is to see how wrong and how controlled I am by lower forces that I have allowed into my life. We always receive what we anticipate.

Post Class -- Exercise -- Be aware of what I see... Become conscious of personality and how it functions and controls... We can begin acting out a conscious role through watching for our usual roles to take over and then go against them.
