"Catch the Big, Bad Wolf"
What you feed in life is what grows. When we allow negative states or strong desires to drive us we feel active, but we are really being passive to something ("the bad wolf") that is using us. We don't realize that "the bad wolf" has no power other than what we give to it.
See the appearance of the bad wolf as the invitation to feed "the good wolf". Catch the big, bad wolf. Instead of feeding it, see how long you can stay aware of it and see it for what it is. The less you serve the big bad wolf, the more you feed the good wolf, and bring yourself into a completely different level of consciousness.
