If -- by the light of remembering and considering what is Timeless, Holy, and True -- the heart is warmed and gradually enflamed, then the following must be true, even if yet to be seen: within us must dwell some sort of celestial kindling; what else can explain how such a flame is created, let alone serve as a light in the darkness of the soul... uniting the twain, making of them as one.

The Sooner the Better
As we realize there is no destination in our life toward which we run that isn't disappearing the moment we depart for it; and -- at the same time -- there's nothing in the universe that isn't being ceaselessly renewed by the divine forces responsible for its creation, we are awakened to remember a stunning truth:
Nothing real can be attained in this world of passing time, nor can it be lost.
All of which means that our "hope in things seen" is, in the end, futile. All such hope is a lot like looking for our reflection in a wave as it breaks on the shore.
The peace we seek, the abiding sense of wholeness we feel called to know, must be found elsewhere... and the sooner we can remember this truth, the sooner will it help set us free.
