- When we have pain in our relationship with others, we never turn to ourselves and wonder, "What is this about?"
- We have no idea what to do about our pain, let alone why we have it.
- The people and problems in your life are not there to produce suffering, they are there to reveal to you something latent in your consciousness that you do not yet understand.
- There is no "self" without relationship. It is a mutually dependent experience, which means that I am part and parcel in every experience I have with any other person.
- Our attention belongs to whatever resistance points to as the source of our pain.
- People who disturb you are "Agents of the Divine" sent from Central Cosmic Casting to help you learn about yourself.
- The part of you that becomes jealous, protective, pushy, demanding, or fearful is what creates the condition it says it doesn't want.
- People do not cause fear and anxiety in you, they reveal the unseen demands you brought into the moment with you.
- "Love thine enemies" refers to the fact that anything or anyone you think is your enemy is actually helping you to wake up to your real enemy, which is a consciousness divided in itself and set against itself.
- The healing begins with the revealing. The people in our lives are here to help reveal what has been concealed.
- We're not meant to heal ourselves, we're here to see the need for a healing, and then let the light that reveals what has been concealed to bring about the necessary reintegration of this consciousness that became fragmented by every moment that we didn't understand.
- To be an "individual" means to be undivided.
- The original meaning of the word patience is to suffer yourself. The first task is always to bring your attention back into yourself.
- My education is my partner's education. My growth is the opportunity for my partner's growth, and vice versa.
- The moments we want the least are often the most helpful for our growth.
- You're never going to escape karma, i.e. the need for the rebalancing of this consciousness with the greater one that acts on it.
- The only problems we have with other people are our unconscious demands on them.
