We suffer from unconscious fatigue, which steals our chance to wake up. A set of laws operates this process, in secret, unseen by us. Metal fatigue results in collapse or disintegration due to stress from expansion and contraction. We too are engaged in a process of either integrating or disintegrating.
Thought expansion - example - I'll be rich. My dreams will be fulfilled. Followed by thought contraction - example - I'm too old. I'm too lonely. I'm too (fill in the blank) to ever succeed. Our hopes then disappear. This is the action of the opposites working within us. The result is that we end up a "shell" of our possibilities. The false self, which runs this scenario, all it wants is the sensation of the expansion and contraction. This psychological stress sucks the essence out of us.
The yo-yo life is both unnecessary and a tragedy. It convinces us that there is no alternative to the yo-yo life; that we will never escape the tether, the back and forth, up and down action of the opposites. It says, "You are entitled to be defeated!" This is a monstrous lie. What is wrong that we don't even question our captors! We just walk into the cell and close the door behind us. We weren't created to live in any form of captivity.
Story: A man smells the most wonderful fragrance, and he wants to go find it to have it for his own. So he goes to a large department store, where one clerk after another sends him in a fruitless search from one department to another, and after several hours he still isn't any closer to finding what he is searching for. Finally he meets a man who tells him that all the clerks are loyal to the owner of the store, and their job is to keep him there long enough that eventually he will become discouraged and settle for something else, rather than what he came there to find. Further, he says, what you are looking for can't be found in this store.
We need to make up our minds. Do we want to settle for losing our essential life to a process of disintegration, or do we want to work in order to live in a higher world? That world is not of this world. Your present nature wants to "keep you in the store" - in your own mind and its thinking.
The "heaven" we are looking for is not found through the senses. This world IS my perception of it. What gives me my perception? The process of identification with whatever comes into my mind, which it then thinks about so that it can continue asleep in the dream.
We must live beyond ourselves. We are made greater by what we are brought into in pure, true moments. This is integration. Then we discover everything was already in us. But some part of us kept us from knowing that. We must deeply understand how our own mind works. This does not happen by accident, but through our agreement and work to understand higher principles.
"Our gift from God is to know that nothing is beyond me." We are not the isolated persons we think we are. Slow down. Cherish the stillness. A quiet mind. See how we are in relationship with everything.
