Be An Artist of the Present Moment and Know Its Peace

How often do you get something that you thought would make you happy only to have the thought, "Is that all there is?" How can this feeling come from our best efforts to live a good life? When these moments happen, all we know to do is to come up with the next plan for something else to make us happy. The sensation of completeness we feel when we attain our goal never lasts. But real Completeness doesn't come and go.

Until we learn to give more to life than we take from it, we'll have to be satisfied with what we get. We have become experts at giving the least to get the most. We want to be first. Whoever thinks that they want to humble themselves? No one understands that if we give more than we take we are actually rewarded.

When we're with someone who's negative all we want to do is to get away from them. But if we just learn to give in these moments then we receive something higher instead of negativity. When there's a negativity in us, the mind starts to feel that it's losing something so it brings up an image from the content of its own experience to protect or free it. Fear is a void, as is loneliness and anger. They want to draw you in. If we don't fill the void, under law, it must be filled with something else. When the opposites don't jump in to cancel the pain, they collapse and in floods grace.

Why do artists, of all types of art, give themselves to their art? They do so to be an instrument for expressing something greater. We are all created to be artists of life.
