Student Q&A with Guy on "In Search of the Unimaginable, Unknowable Sanctuary of True Self" (7/17/24)
Posted: Thursday, July 18, 2024
Meeting: Wednesday, July 17, 2024
Duration: 16min 52sec
Topics Covered
There is an interior sanctuary that awaits human beings if they will only follow the breadcrumbs of truth that lead them there.
There is nothing within thought that can satisfy the soul that hungers for what is true. What we really hunger for already exists.
How often have we filled ourselves with things outside of ourselves -- including images produced by our own mind -- that turn out to be futile?
The experience of the emptiness and dryness of the desert is a requirement for the spiritual aspirant that seeks the sanctuary of true self.
There is not enough physical or psychological material in the entire universe to satisfy the person who is lost in imagination.
Grace is the relationship that takes place when there is something revealed in ourselves that we did not know was there the moment before.
When you actually are in the Now, there is no past and no future as you imagine them. The past or future time that you imagine does not exist apart from the imaginary self that imagines it.
The sanctuary of your true self does not exist in passing time. It is a sanctuary in which there is no "you" that has to go anywhere.
When you start analyzing something you have observed in yourself, you then become part of the very machinery that has been observed.
The real observer does not need to think about what it is observing because it already knows that it IS what is being observed.
Something in us believes that there is a difference between the observer and the observed. Something in us believes that it is different from its own reactions.
Remembering yourself is the recollection that the source of every single moment remains intact, so that it is always here. What WAS here is STILL here.
Remembering yourself is entering into the real Now. Remembering yourself is awareness that you were gone again, that you left the moment again. Self-observation leads to remembering yourself.
The self that dreams of a time to come does not want to meet the inevitable end of itself.
You learn about yourself by entering into the moment you are in and staying there for as long as possible, You do not learn about yourself by thinking about yourself.
Choose to use pain differently instead of just wishing that it weren't there.
