See that identification is fixation. The moment you're identified, it is you who fixes that moment in your life by not wanting it. Recognize that familiar unwanted moment and know you've lived it before. See that you don't want the experience of your own consciousness. The common denominator in reliving past moments is resistance. It is impossible to resist any moment without expectation of what should happen. Understand that there is no resistance without insistence, and no insistence without attachment and dependence. There is no attachment and dependence without identification, and no identification without imagination. You can't resist your way out of what you don't want. This consciousness is not separate from the condition it resists, and is inseparable from your experience. The more you try to escape what you don't want, the more you're fixed in it. There's an awareness that's created when opposing forces meet; you're in a place the mind cannot know. Don't take sides. If you truly see that identification is fixation, you won't know who to be, but you will be nearer to the one solution to your struggles with unwanted moments.
