Sometimes I am overcome by a sad thought that appears in my mind or the image of someone who hurt me. I can run a whole mental movie about something that caused me grief, so that in reliving the event I actually re-experience the sense of loss. Why do such sad images run through my mind, especially given the fact of how much I wish they would just go away?...

Learn to see the deception in any assumption that wants you to believe that there is no higher alternative to your suffering than to either run from it or simply endure it.
The real reason your regrets continue to grow is that you keep watering them with "sighs, cries, and whys"!...
