Given the values of the world in which we live today, it's no small wonder that the first of the beatitudes -- “Blessed are the poor in spirit” -- more often than not proves itself a painful paradox regarding the notion of real wealth; for the truth is -- as Christ taught -- that the less we take ourselves to be, the more we’re given to discover all that we are, and forever will be...

Our true nature is not discovered by acquiring new knowledge, but by awakening to what has always been present: the light of a living awareness, waiting to be awakened, and realized as being inseparable from one’s True Self...

The life and death of the Christ did not happen two-thousand years ago, any more than the rising and setting of the sun belongs to a particular place and time. Seen, or not, the life of Christ is always now...

Life gives. Life asks. And when, at last, we are willing to surrender whatever Life may ask of us, excluding nothing -- let alone our most familiar sense of self -- then, for having died to the fear of death we are set free.

You can't escape any unwanted experience of yourself because that is the experience you don’t want! The Good news is this experience of yourself is not your true Self... but, for now, it is largely the only (sense of) self you’re given to know...

By and large, most of us hold an unseen, but utterly false belief: the more we feel the need to talk to ourselves about something, the more important it is we do so. But what are we so busy talking to ourselves about in these moments of stress... if not what we must do in order to escape the painful experience of our own stressful reaction?

If we’re still talking to ourselves about some past, painful, unwanted moment -- justifying, revisiting, or analyzing it -- we can be sure the invisible, Divine purpose of that moment was not fulfilled. And this insight, for those with “eyes to see,” reveals a deeper truth: if the lesson remains unrealized, then so does our reason for having incarnated the forces responsible for its revelation...

Just as we can only move freely in a darkened room when there is light to reveal what surrounds us, so it is with the unseen dimensions within us: in any given moment, we live in a world no larger than the measure of our understanding.

Fear and anxiety do not exist outside of an old mind that -- moment by moment -- creates these dark states in a deeply divided space within itself...

Whatever we seek -- or find -- outside of awareness itself is not what we’re really looking for. Our eventual, but inevitable discontentment with whatever we find proves this fact: what we truly seek lives in a world above the ceaseless cycle of pleasure and pain, where nothing changes except for what we hope to save ourselves through or from. But, as yet, either we’re unable -- or unwilling -- to see this truth that is the secret corner stone of self-realization.
