I have had an incurable disease for 10 years, and have gone through many treatments for chronic physical pain. As a result, I'm wiped out financially and can't work. I am not seeking sympathy, rather would like to deepen my surrender... which is all I live for anymore. When the pain gets overwhelming, I can't observe it anymore, and this opens the door for fear.
These days, I feel relatively stable in the face of most normal worldly challenges. For the most part I'm able to "stay in the learning place." However, even as that grows, I feel troubled and disturbed by forces (and apparitions) beyond my comprehension -- especially at night in my dreams -- to the point where this "paranormal" activity is becoming an obstacle to me when practicing mindfulnes...
What is meditation, and is there some "best" method for its practice? What is prayer and what's the most effective way to pray? Should I be really be asking God for specific things? How can I practice ceaseless prayer? When I sit down to meditate, thoughts crowd in, and I can't seem to find a truly quiet moment. How am I ever going to change if I can't even do this simple exercise?...
When I look at myself, it seems that my most prevalent emotion is anger. It's always there. I frequently find myself caught up in remembering all the cruelty and unfairness that's been done to me. I know that indulging in this does no good, but I feel powerless to stop these raging thoughts. What can I do? I really am weary of my own out-of-control emotions. Before speaking to someone who inti...
Classroom Talk: 1/1/2003 - Spiritually speaking, the cost of starting over is not what we pay to achieve some distant desire, but it is in our willingness to let go of -- to dare to live without -- any desire we may have whose promise of fulfillment drives us to search for it in yet another tomorrow.
Question: When we fall, is it in the very moment we are falling -- or right after that falling experience -- that we must see the real reason why we did fall instead of blaming the entire environment as the reason we temporarily fell?
After listening to what you teach, I get the sense that longing, desire, and imagining takes one out of the present moment and Presence. Is this correct? If I choose to bring a mate and prosperity into my life, it is out of a longing and desire. I hear other human growth potential leaders say it is necessary to first visualize all this taking place. Please clarify for me. (From student corresp...
I am ex master mariner, having captained many kinds of vessels for over 2 decades. Some time back, while on vacation, I had a stroke; up to now I have found no cure. Since childhood, I studied metaphysics from many gurus in Indonesia, particularly for curing people stricken by black magic. I have been jobless since the episode, and have spent a lot of money seeking to find a way to get better,...
Part 1 The purer the reflection, the more immaculate its conception. Part 2 We are not lifted by our emotions... rather, we are chained to them; we go where they take us. As long as our identity is a derivative of any temporary passion, our sense of self is a by-product of the same... much in the same way as a spark owes its existence to the flame that gives it birth. When the fir...
Question: My father just passed away, and after fifty years of marriage to someone who was significantly dependent on her, my mother is struggling to find her purpose. I'm doing well thanks to Truth teachings. I've shared them with her when I felt it might assist, and she has responded. Any words you might have for her would be welcome.
I am still on a long and tough inner journey. After many years of struggling with this rough nature, it still will not release me. I remain pretty much me even though there are fleeting moments of peace. I try to bear the pain when it's there and embrace the peace when it comes because I really don't know what else to do. I still get so frustrated at times, and then I have to catch myself. I s...
I went to a psychotherapist for many years who, when all is said and done, did not help me. I can see now that he was insincere and that he said a lot of hurtful things. This has left me feeling violated and humiliated. These feelings haunt me, and I seem to be unable to let go of the situation. Convinced I am worthless, I have become despondent, even suicidal -- which ironically are the issue...
