The dawning awareness of how much you need the Divine in your life - to help open your heart, and to heal your mind -- is the same as "how" to ask for... and receive this Grace; and the more real grows your spiritual need, the sooner comes a Celestial response.

The only thing we really win in any temporary victory achieved through agreeing to be angry, aggressive, or to otherwise ache... is this guarantee: while we may live to fight another day, we are losing -- little by little -- the possibility of ever knowing the "peace that passes all understanding."...

Seeing ourselves as being "important" in life does not grant us the power hoped for in the pursuit of such a prize, but actually serves to make us powerless before anyone who, ignorant of our self-appointed title, dares to question its worth.

Either we learn what it means to lead by example, or we are lounge chair leaders who have deceived ourselves into believing that our ability to criticize those who go before us is the same as having reached the top of the mountain before them!...

Learning what it means to step back from our reactions to life is the same as learning to walk past those parts of us that want us to believe our only choices in that moment are those presented to us from the content of these reactions.

Part I: No one sets out to find ways to comfort himself without having first consented to making his own discontented nature King or Queen for the duration of that search. Part II: Our spiritual sleep is upon a bed of thorns lightly covered by fragrant petals.

The difference between being angry with ourselves, or at someone else, is found only in the image held in our mind at which we lash out. Either way, the effect of this unconscious fire in us is always the same: It is we who get burned!...

Until we are empowered by the indwelling Light to alter our perception of the darkness, and therein transform our unconscious relationship to it, we remain little more than servants to our suffering and nothing more than a part of the movement of the very darkness we fear and protest.
