Any thought that “promises” to rescue you, or to otherwise deliver you to some new delight deceives you twice. First, that it has the power to lift you above what’s dragging you down; and secondly, more significantly, that there is a “you” that needs being saved from some dire straight, or that can be actually be enlarged by changing circumstance.
Seeking to comfort ourselves -- by clinging to the hope of a better time to come -- is like a hungry man standing outside a restaurant, looking in through the window, and trying to fill his empty stomach by watching other people eat.
Our every action is a prayer, for our deeds are seeds and by them we plant the world we will walk through tomorrow.
With the mind we can learn math, medicine, even creative arts, but the peace that is the heart of a quiet mind cannot be learned.

Pain looks for something to blame outside of the consciousness that cannot escape from itself; We are predisposed to blaming the experience for the pain, instead of seeing that the reaction to the experience IS the experience; "I don't deserve this" is the general feeling behind any reaction that blames the experience for the pain that you are in.
There isn't a thought large enough to hold what the heart knows without thinking.
