The one who awakens is no more troubled over what others may think of him or her than is the sun concerned by people who complain it rises too early, or sets too late!

Our awareness of anything pure, innocent, and beautiful - any moment realized as timeless and true - is the temporary experience of the abiding union between heaven and earth and, in that same instant, to know ourselves as its witness.

Unseen attachments, negative imagination, and unconscious identification with the body of their conditioned demands has incarnated a kind of dark trinity: a false sense of “self” whose fear we’ve been deceived into believing we must protect at all costs, or otherwise face some terrible consequence.

There can be no greater wealth than higher self-knowledge. And once we realize this truth - so that we prize transcendent wisdom above all other possibilities - every moment, wanted or not, serves as the secret path to the spiritual summit of ourselves.

All negative reactions are creatures rooted in the past; they are dark shadows of old fears and sorrows gone by. No negative reaction can grow, let alone deepen its roots (within us) as long as we agree to bring them into the healing Light of higher awareness.

If we know better than to look for the living in a grave yard, then why don’t we know better than to listen to old thoughts and feelings that keep promising us a new life, but that we’ve already seen – time and time again – have proven themselves to be dead on arrival.

The light of true self-knowledge grows out of our willingness to see and then enter into whatever we’ve yet to understand about ourselves; it’s a grand mystery comparable to the way in which the sun rises from out of the darkness, illuminating and revealing all that was unseen only moments before.

We cannot run away from what we don’t want to see in ourselves, any more than a mirror can escape whatever is reflected in it. And yet, to SEE the truth of this fact (about our present level of consciousness) is the action of transcending it, along with its pain.
