When you understand that you can't isolate the "I" from the storm that it's in...that it perceives torment but is itself the secret ground of this pain...then you begin to cease willing yourself as that "I".
The unseen human condition: He turns to the same apparatus that creates his pain to help him escape it, and then he wonders why his torment never really ends... An act which proves that what turns to this ache-making apparatus of self is the apparatus itself.
If we would spend but a hundredth of our time reflecting upon where we have been wrong that is spent churning over how others have done wrong to us, we could soon free ourselves of that terrible self-torment known as the need to be "in the right."...
