Student Talks: 8/23/2024 - Key Lesson: When, before our inner eyes, we always have someplace better to be, or find ourselves struggling to "add a cubit to our stature," we miss seeing two great liberating truths: First, all imagined destinations are dreams whose promised fulfillment fades the nearer we draw to them... And secondly, blinded as we are by our hope in this "tomorrow" that never comes, we miss seeing -- and realizing -- that our True Self...
"Do you know why you want freedom? To know why you want freedom, you must know what you want freedom from. And most of us do not know that idea of 'freedom from' -- other than when we're in a bad relationship. What you want is freedom from pain. You want freedom from fear. Freedom from self-doubt. Freedom from feeling inadequate. Freedom from being alone...."
Our freedom in life can not be separated from life, and only in finding our life's true purpose do we find true freedom.
True freedom is within what I am, and not in what I have... and if I have not this freedom of being free in what I am... then any other sense of freedom is based in conditions apart from the Spirit of my soul and, as such, is my unseen captor only posing as my liberator.
To be human is to seek for love and its abiding freedom. Codependency is the mistake we make whenever something within us, or someone revolving around us, would have us believe that anything less than love and its freedom can possibly fulfill us.
There is no freedom to be found in the taking of any one side of the opposites, but in seeing this truth, the opposites reveal right within themselves a third force wherein an overlaying unity is found that is the true nature of freedom.
The True Nature of Freedom is not found apart from the conditions of one's life, but within them.
Topics covered: In spite of all of the knowledge gained, in the unwanted moment, a part of us still tries to find ways to escape from the condition. But you cannot run from your own shadow. The shadow is the illusion of a self apart from the Divine; The "un-power" that opens the door to perfect freedom is the understanding that there is really one power; The Yin-Yang symbol depicts "the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." The white empties itself into the black, and the black empties itself into the white. For instance: Life and death, that seem to be opposites, are not opposites at all. Life and death are one movement.
Topics covered: freedom, fear, fearful, faith, bold, boldness, courage...
Freedom follows the discovery that whatever it is within us that compels us to achieve can never itself be made content by achievement.
Topics Covered: We have never been angry at someone else without also being completely justified in that anger. The justification excuses us from examining whether or not the anger is harmful; Chronic repressed anger can and does harm the physical body, compromising our health, and it also corrupts the soul; The real pandemic is unchecked negativity in the form of anger...
Topics covered: Every true teaching is designed to help you see that, spiritually speaking, you cannot truly do what you think you can do, ie: complete yourself; Everything that happens in your life is part of the purpose of your life. What is in your way is part of the Way; Much of our lives now involve an incessant and exhausting search for a sense of security that cannot be assailed by any condition.
